Who Is Our Teacher?

Mrs. Rowena Tsai
Little Learners Preschool Hawaii

Rowena "Wena" (Chung) Tsai grew up in Kailua. She attended Maunawili Elementary School, Kailua Mission School, and went on to Hawaiian Mission Academy, where she graduated with the class of 1976. After high school, she attended Loma Linda University in California and obtained her teaching degree in Child & Family Science.

Wena returned home and got her first job working at a childrens dentist office where she first experienced working with young children. She worked there for seven years, and decided to go back to college. Wena attended the University of Hawaii where she took drama courses and met her husband, Stephen Tsai. She also decided to take business courses at Cannons Business College where she got her degree in Clerk Stenography.

Wena and Stephen married in 1982 and started their family in 1985. They have two daughters, Allie and Jodie, and a son, Devon.

Wena has taught at Hawaii Child Centers, Sunrise Preschool, Joy of Christ Preschool, and Kailua Methodist Preschool, accumulating twenty-seven plus years of experience in the preschool setting.

She has had extensive involvement with her church where she played the piano in the young children's division for twelve years, helped with the Vacation Bible School programs, and taught for the church-scouting club, The Pathfinders.

Currently, Wena is involved with Family Programs Hawaii working with foster children. She loves what she does and has a real love for young children.

In her free time, she enjoys swimming, and loves spending time with her granddaughters, Mia, Lily, and Aria as well as other family and friends.

When asked what she likes about the preschool, she replied, It was always a dream to one day open a preschool where the sky is the limit. I've learned so much from the children, and to see them light up when they catch on to what I'm talking about is the best gift I can ever ask for. All of this would have never come true if God was not on our side. I thank God everyday for the children he has led to us, and most of all, I pray for patience and love, since I'm working with the young kids.
